It achieved a price of USD 90,000.00 (€ 75,642.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roberto Montenegro - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait, which sold at auction in November 2017 for USD 187,500.00 (€ 157,589.51).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Xavier Villaurrutia y González von Roberto Montenegro wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion Latin American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 90.000,00 (€ 75.642,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Für andere Arbeiten von Roberto Montenegro mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait beobachtet, die im November 2017 für USD 187.500,00 (€ 157.589,51) versteigert wurde.
