This artwork by Roberto Montenegro achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2017. In the Latin American Art auction, the work Portrait of Frida Kahlo sold for USD 47,500.00 (€ 42,274.83) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roberto Montenegro - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait, which sold at auction in November 2017 for USD 187,500.00 (€ 157,589.51).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Roberto Montenegro erzielte im Mai 2017 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Latin American Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Frida Kahlo für USD 47.500,00 (€ 42.274,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Roberto Montenegro mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait beobachtet, die im November 2017 für USD 187.500,00 (€ 157.589,51) versteigert wurde.
