Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work By the Sea by Richard Pousette-Dart. Here, the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 214,200.00 (€ 185,422.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Pousette-Dart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blood Wedding in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 2,629,000.00 (€ 2,489,111.91).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit By the Sea von Richard Pousette-Dart zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 214.200,00 (€ 185.422,44) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Pousette-Dart erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blood Wedding im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.629.000,00 (€ 2.489.111,91).
