This artwork by Richard Hambleton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Marlboro Lights sold for USD 37,800.00 (€ 36,617.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Hambleton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work As The World Burns - 1983 in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 474,000.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Richard Hambleton erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Marlboro Lights für USD 37.800,00 (€ 36.617,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Hambleton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit As The World Burns - 1983 im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 474.000,00.
