Description
RICHARD HAMBLETON (1952-2017) Marlboro Country Box signed and titled 'Richard Hambleton Marlboro Country Box' (on the reverse) acrylic on Marlboro advertisement mounted on canvas board 14 x 18 in. (35.6 x 45.7 cm.) Executed in 1984. This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Marlboro Country Box by Richard Hambleton. Here, the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 32,760.00 (€ 30,622.55). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Hambleton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work As The World Burns - 1983 in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 474,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Marlboro Country Box von Richard Hambleton zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 32.760,00 (€ 30.622,55) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Hambleton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit As The World Burns - 1983 im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 474.000,00.
