In December 2021 Christies in New York held the auction First Open Online: Post War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Untitled (Pink Model) by Ray Johnson. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,835.48), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ray Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Comb in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open Online: Post War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Pink Model) von Ray Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.835,48) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ray Johnson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Comb im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.800,26).
