Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Rameshwar Broota achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in October 2014. In the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Prisoner Of War sold for GBP 182,500.00 (€ 233,026.14) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 90,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rameshwar Broota - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Numbers, which sold at auction in May 2006 for USD 912,000.00 (€ 710,667.81).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Rameshwar Broota erzielte im Oktober 2014 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Prisoner Of War für GBP 182.500,00 (€ 233.026,14) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 90.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Rameshwar Broota mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Numbers beobachtet, die im Mai 2006 für USD 912.000,00 (€ 710.667,81) versteigert wurde.
