Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Musicians And Figures Dancing by Percy Wyndham Lewis was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,759.96). Admittedly, works by Percy Wyndham Lewis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Red portrait in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 39,950.00 (€ 63,325.67).
