PAUL OUTERBRIDGE JR. (1896–1958) Nude Reclining, c. 1937 color carbro print stamped photographer's estate and numbered '867' in ink and pencil (verso); credited, titled and dated on affixed gallery label, affixed handwritten letter (frame backing board) image: 8 1 ⁄ 2 x 7 1 ⁄ 2 in. (21.5 x 19 cm.) sheet: 10 1 ⁄ 4 x 8 7 ⁄ 8 in. (26 x 22.5 cm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nude Reclining, c. 1937 by Paul Outerbridge was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 20,160.00 (€ 19,076.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Outerbridge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ide Collar (An Advertisment made for Geo. P. Ide & Co.) in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 314,000.00 (€ 370,021.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Nude Reclining, c. 1937 von Paul Outerbridge wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 20.160,00 (€ 19.076,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul Outerbridge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ide Collar (An Advertisment made for Geo. P. Ide & Co.) im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 314.000,00 (€ 370.021,21).
