Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Paul McCarthy could be acquired at Phillips in New York in October last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Peter Paul Skin Sample (P. 73) changed hands for USD 1,638.00 (€ 1,648.88) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul McCarthy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tripod in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 2,045,000.00 (€ 1,836,551.41).
