Auction result well in line with expectations
In December this year Phillips in London held the auction New Now, which included the work Dwarf Head (chocolate) by Paul McCarthy. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 20,320.00 (€ 23,407.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul McCarthy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tripod in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 2,045,000.00 (€ 1,836,551.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dwarf Head (chocolate) von Paul McCarthy zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 20.320,00 (€ 23.407,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul McCarthy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tripod im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.045.000,00 (€ 1.836.551,41).
