This artwork by Oliver Clare achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in August 2012. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Still life with grapes, plums and strawberry sold for USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,173.95) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Oliver Clare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Primroses and apple blossom, a bird's nest with eggs, on a mossy bank; and Grapes, plums, gooseberries, a plum and a strawberry, on a mossy bank, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 9,400.00 (€ 13,617.06).
