A top price for Oliver Clare - as previously expected
In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures, which included the work Primroses and apple blossom, a bird's nest with eggs, on a mossy bank; and Grapes, plums, gooseberries, a plum and a strawberry, on a mossy bank by Oliver Clare. The price achieved of GBP 9,400.00 (€ 13,617.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Primroses and apple blossom, a bird's nest with eggs, on a mossy bank; and Grapes, plums, gooseberries, a plum and a strawberry, on a mossy bank is the most expensive artwork by Oliver Clare that we have observed at auctions so far.
