In September 2007 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work A bird's nest with pansies and hawthorn blossom; and Apples, grapes and greengages by Oliver Clare. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,811.15), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Oliver Clare; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Primroses and apple blossom, a bird's nest with eggs, on a mossy bank; and Grapes, plums, gooseberries, a plum and a strawberry, on a mossy bank sold at auction in March 2003 with the realized price of GBP 9,400.00 (€ 13,617.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im September 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A bird's nest with pansies and hawthorn blossom; and Apples, grapes and greengages von Oliver Clare zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.811,15) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Oliver Clare; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Primroses and apple blossom, a bird's nest with eggs, on a mossy bank; and Grapes, plums, gooseberries, a plum and a strawberry, on a mossy bank im März 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 9.400,00 (€ 13.617,06).
