The portfolio comprising five lithographs printed in colours, on wove, each signed and numbered 103/350 in pencil, with accompanying text and illustrations taken in collaboration between the artist and Grant Warren, each illustration signed by the latter artist and numbered 103/150 in pencil, printed by Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, South Africa, published by Touch of Mandela, Cape Town, with the publisher's blindstamp, the full sheets, loose as issued, housed in the original black cloth-covered case, overall 430 x 530 x 35mm (16 7/8 x 20 7/8 x 1 3/8in)(Folio)

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Reflections of Robben Island - Series II by Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was sold in the Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) auction at Bonhams in London in December 2020. It changed hands for a price of GBP 2,805.00 (€ 3,133.43) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Cell Door, Robben Island in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 112,575.00 (€ 100,973.18).

Die Arbeit Reflections of Robben Island - Series II von Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 2.805,00 (€ 3.133,43) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Cell Door, Robben Island im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.575,00 (€ 100.973,18).
