Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2016 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Seri Sapuan Kaligrafi (Sweeps Of Calligraphy Series) by Mochtar Apin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 212,500.00 (€ 23,941.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mochtar Apin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Memecah (Triptych), which sold at auction in October 2016 for HKD 750,000.00 (€ 88,259.44).
