Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration, which included the work A folio of sixteen linocuts commemorating Indonesia's 1945 declaration of independence by Mochtar Apin. It changed hands for a price of GBP 765.00 (€ 890.09) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mochtar Apin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Memecah (Triptych) in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 750,000.00 (€ 88,259.44).
