Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Melle could be acquired at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the TWENTIETH CENTURY ART INCLUDING BELGIAN ART auction, the work An Erotic Forest Fantasy changed hands for NLG 5,875.00 (€ 2,823.80) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of NLG 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Melle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A bird on stilts, which sold at auction in June 2003 for EUR 10,755.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Melle konnte im Juni 2001 bei Christies in Amsterdam für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion TWENTIETH CENTURY ART INCLUDING BELGIAN ART wechselte die Arbeit An Erotic Forest Fantasy für NLG 5.875,00 (€ 2.823,80) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von NLG 7.000,00 – 9.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Melle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A bird on stilts beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für EUR 10.755,00 versteigert wurde.
