Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Matthew Monahan was sold in the Contemporary Curated auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,869.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Matthew Monahan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Morning Thaw in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 92,000.00 (€ 59,125.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Matthew Monahan wurde im Juni 2014 in der Auktion Contemporary Curated bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.869,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Monahan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Morning Thaw im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 92.000,00 (€ 59.125,96).
