Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cremaster 1: Goodyear Chorus by Matthew Barney was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,900.00 (€ 72,561.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Barney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).

Die Arbeit Cremaster 1: Goodyear Chorus von Matthew Barney kam im November 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 72.561,35) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Barney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
