Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Martín Ramírez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2019. In the Outsider and Vernacular Art auction, the work Untitled (Horse and Rider), circa 1953 sold for USD 112,500.00 (€ 98,218.96) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Martín Ramírez; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled (Tunnels and Train), 1950s sold at auction in January 2021 with the realized price of USD 187,500.00 (€ 154,511.74).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Martín Ramírez erzielte im Januar 2019 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Horse and Rider), circa 1953 für USD 112.500,00 (€ 98.218,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00.
