Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Girl About Town by Martin Maloney was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,912.50 (€ 3,222.14). Admittedly, works by Martin Maloney have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled Portrait (Jerry) in February 2007 with an auction result of USD 20,400.00 (€ 15,419.50).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Girl About Town von Martin Maloney im Juni 2011 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.912,50 (€ 3.222,14) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Martin Maloney auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled Portrait (Jerry) im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.400,00 (€ 15.419,50).
