In May 2007 Phillips in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Part II, which included the work Karl Marx Ejaculating by Manuel Ocampo. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,600.00 (€ 11,595.93), 30% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Manuel Ocampo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Los Comicos Ambulantes, which sold at auction in December last year for USD 32,760.00 (€ 30,622.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 30 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2007 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Karl Marx Ejaculating von Manuel Ocampo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.600,00 (€ 11.595,93) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Manuel Ocampo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Los Comicos Ambulantes beobachtet, die im Dezember letzten Jahres für USD 32.760,00 (€ 30.622,55) versteigert wurde.
