In June 2014 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Boundless: Contemporary Art, which included the work Passing Clouds by Liu Jiutong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 625,000.00 (€ 58,893.35), 39% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Jiutong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountain Against Island, which sold at auction in November 2015 for HKD 1,360,000.00 (€ 166,104.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2014 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Boundless: Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Passing Clouds von Liu Jiutong zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 625.000,00 (€ 58.893,35) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Liu Jiutong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountain Against Island beobachtet, die im November 2015 für HKD 1.360.000,00 (€ 166.104,90) versteigert wurde.
