Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Classes Two Paths by Liu Dahong was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,854.55). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Liu Dahong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Meeting Hall in November 2010 with an auction result of HKD 2,780,000.00 (€ 274,673.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two Classes Two Paths von Liu Dahong im März 2021 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 5.854,55) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Liu Dahong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Meeting Hall im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.780.000,00 (€ 274.673,21).
