Artwork auctioned at nine times the upper estimate price
When the work The Honeymoon by Liu Dahong was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 260,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than nine times as high at HKD 2,540,000.00 (€ 264,600.45). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Liu Dahong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Meeting Hall sold at auction in November 2010 with the realized price of HKD 2,780,000.00 (€ 274,673.21).
Kunstwerk zum Neunfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit The Honeymoon von Liu Dahong im Mai 2012 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 260.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 2.540.000,00 (€ 264.600,45) mehr als neunmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Liu Dahong; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Meeting Hall im November 2010 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 2.780.000,00 (€ 274.673,21).
