This artwork by Ling Jian achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in June 2008. In the Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Communist Sisters: Tears of Idealism No. 2 sold for GBP 163,250.00 (€ 206,353.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00. This high result makes Communist Sisters: Tears of Idealism No. 2 the most expensive artwork by Ling Jian that we have observed at auctions so far.
