Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Leonora Carrington could be acquired at Phillips in New York in May this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction, the work Four works: (i) Study for Snake-Bite Floripondio; (ii) Study for Mural El Mundo Magico de Los Mayas; (iii) Untitled; (iv) Untitled changed hands for USD 25,400.00 (€ 23,840.81) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonora Carrington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Garden of Paracelsus in May last year with an auction result of USD 3,256,500.00 (€ 3,034,665.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Leonora Carrington konnte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session wechselte die Arbeit Four works: (i) Study for Snake-Bite Floripondio; (ii) Study for Mural El Mundo Magico de Los Mayas; (iii) Untitled; (iv) Untitled für USD 25.400,00 (€ 23.840,81) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leonora Carrington erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Garden of Paracelsus im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.256.500,00 (€ 3.034.665,92).
