The work Langs den Amstel (Along the River Amstel) by Leo Gestel was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Day Auction auction at Sothebys in London in March last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 25,200.00 (€ 29,877.44), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leo Gestel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gladiolen in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 505,250.00 (€ 638,652.94).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Langs den Amstel (Along the River Amstel) von Leo Gestel wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Day Auction bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 25.200,00 (€ 29.877,44) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leo Gestel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gladiolen im Juni 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 505.250,00 (€ 638.652,94).
