Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Lee Mullican achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in December 2020. In the 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session auction, the work Isis Appearing (Guardian Figure) sold for USD 44,100.00 (€ 36,058.87) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lee Mullican; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bright Path, 1967 sold at auction in September last year with the realized price of USD 69,675.00 (€ 71,220.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lee Mullican erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Isis Appearing (Guardian Figure) für USD 44.100,00 (€ 36.058,87) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Lee Mullican; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Bright Path, 1967 im September letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 69.675,00 (€ 71.220,48).
