This artwork by Lee Mullican achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September 2021. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California auction, the work Untitled, 1964 sold for USD 9,562.50 (€ 8,259.91) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lee Mullican have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bright Path, 1967 in September last year with an auction result of USD 69,675.00 (€ 71,220.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 91 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lee Mullican erzielte im September 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California wurde die Arbeit Untitled, 1964 für USD 9.562,50 (€ 8.259,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lee Mullican auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bright Path, 1967 im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.675,00 (€ 71.220,48).
