Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California, which included the work Guardian, Circa 1980S by Lee Mullican. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,762.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Mullican achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bright Path, 1967 in September last year with an auction result of USD 69,675.00 (€ 71,220.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California durch, in der auch die Arbeit Guardian, Circa 1980S von Lee Mullican zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.040,00 (€ 1.762,11) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lee Mullican erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bright Path, 1967 im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.675,00 (€ 71.220,48).
