Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Christies in New York held the auction Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale, which included the work Red Is Not a Bright Color in the Dark by Kay Sage. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 151,200.00 (€ 141,918.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kay Sage achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Passage in February 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,338,500.00 (€ 5,263,644.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Is Not a Bright Color in the Dark von Kay Sage zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 141.918,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kay Sage erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Passage im Februar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.338.500,00 (€ 5.263.644,43).
