Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Bonhams held the auction Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples, which included the work Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated) (15 works) by Kara Walker. The price achieved of USD 94,875.00 (€ 89,051.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 100,000.00. Admittedly, works by Kara Walker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Negress Notes in May last year with an auction result of USD 529,200.00 (€ 493,150.68).
