Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Les missionnaires de l'impossible by José Gamarra was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,042.36). Admittedly, works by José Gamarra have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Il U Aura Un Sourd Dans L'Histoire in November 2006 with an auction result of USD 36,000.00 (€ 27,147.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Les missionnaires de l'impossible von José Gamarra im Mai 2010 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.042,36) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von José Gamarra auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Il U Aura Un Sourd Dans L'Histoire im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 36.000,00 (€ 27.147,27).
