This artwork by John Wesley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in April this year. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Red Lips sold for USD 3,556.00 (€ 3,221.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wesley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Plague in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 577,000.00 (€ 370,822.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 78 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Wesley erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Red Lips für USD 3.556,00 (€ 3.221,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Wesley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Plague im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 577.000,00 (€ 370.822,62).
