In May 2010 Phillips in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Part II, which included the work Study Art Sign (For Style or Glory) by John Waters. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,750.00 (€ 19,201.23), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Waters; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Campaign Button sold at auction in September 2019 with the realized price of USD 27,500.00 (€ 25,217.79).

Im Mai 2010 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study Art Sign (For Style or Glory) von John Waters zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 19.201,23) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von John Waters; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Campaign Button im September 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 25.217,79).
