Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Scene Missing, 2000 by John Waters was auctioned at Christies in Paris in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,875.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Waters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Campaign Button in September 2019 with an auction result of USD 27,500.00 (€ 25,217.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Scene Missing, 2000 von John Waters im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.875,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Waters erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Campaign Button im September 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 25.217,79).
