Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Art, which included the work Portrait of Master Harry Spark Patterson (1725-1764), three-quarter-length, in a grey coat, feeding three doves on a ledge by John Theodore Heins. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,016.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Theodore Heins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Lucy, Lady Gage, daughter of William Knight, half-length, in an oyster satin dress and blue wrap, with a feathered headdress, feigned oval, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 6,214.00 (€ 8,920.29).
