Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Women By Candlelight: The Fortune Teller by John Theodore Heins was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,474.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by John Theodore Heins have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2003 the work Portrait of Lucy, Lady Gage, daughter of William Knight, half-length, in an oyster satin dress and blue wrap, with a feathered headdress, feigned oval was auctioned for GBP 6,214.00 (€ 8,920.29).
