JOHN MCLAUGHLIN (1898-1976) Untitled lithograph in red and blue, on Rives BFK paper, 1963, signed and dated '5/6/63' in pencil on the reverse, numbered 6/15, published by Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Los Angeles, with their ink stamps on the reverse, with full margins, in generally very good condition, framed Image: 16 1 ⁄ 8 x 22 in. (410 x 559 mm.) Sheet: 22 1 ⁄ 8 x 30 1 ⁄ 8 in. (562 x 762 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by John McLaughlin was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,277.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John McLaughlin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work V-1957 in September 2017 with an auction result of USD 516,500.00 (€ 437,230.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von John McLaughlin kam im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.277,17) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John McLaughlin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit V-1957 im September 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 516.500,00 (€ 437.230,17).
