JOHN MCLAUGHLIN (1989-1976) Untitled lithograph, on Rives BFK paper, 1963, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse, numbered 12/15, published by the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Los Angeles, with their ink stamps on the reverse, the full sheet Sheet: 18 3 ⁄ 8 x 22 5 ⁄ 8 in. (465 x 572 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Christies held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included this untitled work by John McLaughlin. The price achieved of USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,430.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John McLaughlin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work V-1957 in September 2017 with an auction result of USD 516,500.00 (€ 437,230.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von John McLaughlin zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.430,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John McLaughlin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit V-1957 im September 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 516.500,00 (€ 437.230,17).
