Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Made in Britain, which included the work Washday, Bolton (Workland), 1937 Wasteland, Bolton (Workland), 1937 Unemployed, Tyneside, 1936 by Humphrey Spender. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,683.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Humphrey Spender - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sails At Rab, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,967.18).
