This artwork by Humphrey Spender achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2018. In the Made in Britain auction, the work Ben Nicholson In Hampstead, Circa 1935 sold for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,992.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Humphrey Spender - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sails At Rab, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,967.18).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Humphrey Spender erzielte im März 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Made in Britain wurde die Arbeit Ben Nicholson In Hampstead, Circa 1935 für GBP 1.750,00 (€ 1.992,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Humphrey Spender mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sails At Rab beobachtet, die im März 2008 für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.967,18) versteigert wurde.
