Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Bonhams in Edinburgh held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work Evening Sea by John Houston. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 892.50 (€ 1,039.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Houston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) in October 2000 with an auction result of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,640.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Edinburgh die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Evening Sea von John Houston zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 892,50 (€ 1.039,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Houston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.640,00 (€ 9.640,37).
