In May this year Bonhams held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work Harvest Moon by John Houston. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,080.00 (€ 4,747.11), 36% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Houston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds), which sold at auction in October 2000 for GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,640.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 36 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Harvest Moon von John Houston zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.080,00 (€ 4.747,11) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Houston mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für GBP 5.640,00 (€ 9.640,37) versteigert wurde.
