Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May last year Bonhams in Edinburgh held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work Birds in landscape by John Houston. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 892.50 (€ 1,049.94). Admittedly, works by John Houston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) in October 2000 with an auction result of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,640.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Edinburgh die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Birds in landscape von John Houston zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 892,50 (€ 1.049,94) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Houston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.640,00 (€ 9.640,37).
