Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sunlight Through Trees by John Fabian Carlson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,216.68). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Fabian Carlson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Forest Silence in September 2009 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 55,023.92).
