Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Dying Gaul (Self-Portrait, Fragment) by John De Andrea was sold in the first open Post-War and Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2005. It changed hands for a price of USD 5,760.00 (€ 4,776.91) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John De Andrea achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sitting Woman in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 146,500.00 (€ 101,905.95).
