Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John De Andrea could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Joy, Love and Peace: The Peter B. Lewis Collection auction, the work Recumbent Figure changed hands for USD 37,500.00 (€ 34,912.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John De Andrea - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sitting Woman, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 146,500.00 (€ 101,905.95).
